Leaside is an upper-middle-class community which is well located close to downtown Toronto. Most residences in this area are detached dwellings of mixed vintage, although several semi-detached homes exist as well. This area is popular with families due to its proximity to such recreational centres as Leaside Memorial Community Gardens which houses a pool, two ice rinks, a curling rink, and an auditorium. There is also Serena Gundy Park, located at the north-east corner of the community, which offers twenty-five hectares of natural parkland suitable for hiking and cross-country skiing. Leaside also has excellent primary and secondary schools in the area including North lea, St. Anselm, and Leaside High School.
Recently several homes have been renovated or rebuilt due to the high real estate value of the area combined with the large lot sizes. Commuting is very quick via car and will be even more transit friendly in 2021 when the Eglinton Cross Town Line nears completion. Leaside has always been a little enclave just outside the reach of downtown Toronto and it remains a popular location with people with means in the city.
